Bern, 17. Mar 2020Medical care for asylum seekers.

With the outbreak of the devastating war in Ukraine, Switzerland also took on the responsibility of accommodating and ensuring the safety of those seeking refuge. Particularly in the initial weeks and months of this refugee movement, thousands of people arrived at the initial reception center in Allmend, Bern.

Upon request from the Health Directorate of Bern, we swiftly established a basic medical care system through our network of physicians. In addition to providing internal medicine and basic surgical consultations, we developed simplified questionnaires and triage concepts to contain potential infectious diseases such as tuberculosis.

Through close collaboration with the Salvation Army in Bern and the health authorities of the Canton of Bern, we were able to provide medical support to those at the onset of the wave of migrants seeking protection, ensuring the well-being of these individuals. Subsequently, Medbase took over and continued the medical care.
